This is Rio. I found him in the Penny Saver which is a small local paper listing animals for sale. My eyes were immediately drawn to an ad that said "Horse - Free"; "has leg problems". Well as you can see by the pictures, the ad wasn't lying. I knew I had to save this horse because his owners just didn't want him anymore. As soon as I saw Rio I was shocked. Supposedly he was born like this but was never helped by his owners to fix the deformities. The gal that wanted me to take him off her hands said he would be a good riding horse for kids...Please! The poor thing could hardly walk. So, I gingerly loaded him in my trailer, and he's been with me ever since. He is kind and very loving, and loves to run and buck. He doesn't seem to be in pain but I know eventually his legs will give out. I feel in my heart Rio is very grateful to live out his life being loved and well taken care of. He is truly a special boy!
