BEFORE: TROUBLE
It's been said that "a picture is worth a thousand words" yet somehow words fail me here, but I'll do my best. This is a lttle guy known around here as Trouble, and if the name is any indication of who he is, don't let that fool you.! Now, that's not to say that when Trouble first arrived at Forever Free we didn't have a few misgivings about his temperament. Upon his arrival we were warned to keep a respectable distance from this fella, and here's his story. About 1 year ago I received a call from animal control in Thousand Palms, CA stating they had seized a horse that was in horrible physical shape and asked if I would take him. Doug and I drove to the shelter where I first met Trouble. I extended my hand in love, and well, he tried to bite me. I realized at that moment he was going to be trouble , hence his namesake. I called my vet Dr. Clark and asked if he could pick up the new horse and take him to the clinic for observation which he did. Much to my surprise Dr. Clark called with the news that Trouble was a seven year old stallion who had never been broke. Trouble soon proved that he had little patience for anyone but a brood mare, and it was decided we needed to help him make an "attitude adjustment". He was soon gelded and returned to our ranch to recover from his surgery. About a month later Trouble was taken by Dr. Clark to a professional trainer for about 5 to 6 months. All of us at the rescue knew Trouble had tremendous potential and we were rewarded with Trouble's complete change of heart. Seeing his potential Dr. Clark again took possession of Trouble and was amazed with his progress. Dr. Clark's wife Lisa began riding Trouble where he proved to be a brilliant trail horse with a heart that is eager to please. Lisa and Trouble's relationship has blossomed, and Lisa who barrel races is now teaching Trouble the barrel pattern.Currently, Dr. Clark, Lisa, and Trouble are in beautiful Wyoming, enjoying each other's company while discovering the states beautiful trails in the Grand Teton National Park where Trouble is experiencing for the first time navigating going over rocks and through the beautiful streams. What an experience for a horse that was so neglected and abused. A special, heartfelt thank you to Dr. Clark and Lisa! Gotta love it!! And we do!
